Mariko Krause

Mariko Krause’s range of experience helps her find uncommon connections between the way places develop and the health and vitality of the people who inhabit them. 

Mariko brings nearly a decade of diverse experience in community and economic development to her work at U3 Advisors. Her resume includes significant achievements in enhancing public spaces and streetscapes, stimulating investment in challenging real estate markets, and bolstering small business development, among others. 

In her most recent role as a Project Manager for the City of Memphis’ Division of Planning & Development, Mariko managed nearly $75 million in streetscape and public space projects for Accelerate Memphis, a city-led initiative to catalyze place-based development across 37 anchor neighborhood locations. Mariko oversaw Memphis’ first green infrastructure streetscape installation and the implementation of innovative new bicycle and pedestrian facilities, reflecting her long commitment to placemaking projects that unite health, wellness, sustainability, and economic development.

Previously, Mariko was a founding team member of the Memphis Medical District Collaborative (MMDC), where she worked for over six years in a variety of administrative, project management, design, and implementation roles. Mariko excels in communication, project management, and execution. Her ability to bring project ideas to life and connect previously unconnected elements underscores her passion for urban development and community transformation.

A Kentucky native, Mariko holds a degree in Urban Studies with a concentration on Urban and Community Health from Rhodes College. She has also chaired the Young Leaders Group of the Urban Land Institute’s Memphis chapter.
