John Francis Gough, Esq.
John Francis Gough is the Founding Member of Gough Law Associates, RLLC. Before forming his own firm in 2005, he practiced business law for many years as a partner in several leading Philadelphia law firms, including White and Williams, LLP and Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads.
John practices a broad spectrum of business law, representing executives, boards of directors, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, borrowers, lenders, real estate entities, health care institutions and non-profits. He has handled major business acquisitions, sales and mergers, and major debt and asset restructurings.
He also serves as a private mediator and private arbitrator in business disputes, and as an expert witness in business law legal malpractice cases. He has written and lectured extensively for legal audiences and has taught business law subjects at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School and Temple Law School in both graduate and undergraduate programs.
John received his A.B. with honors from St. Joseph's University, where he was elected to the National Jesuit Honor Society. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was the winner of the Yale-Columbia-Virginia Moot Court Competition. For published legal scholarship, he was elected to the American Law Institute. He was also one of the first attorneys in the nation to be Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification. John is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
In peer reviews, John has been selected as a top-5% Pennsylvania Super Lawyer and holds the rating of Pre-eminent 5.0, the highest rating of Martindale-Hubbell.
He has served multiyear terms: as a Senior Hearing Examiner for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Disciplinary Board; on the Yale Law School Alumni Executive Committee; on the Executive Committee of the Schuylkill River Development Corporation (Schuylkill Banks); and on the Board of Directors of the Kennedy House, Inc. cooperative, as well being active in other civic and professional organizations.
